Hydrovolt and Motor Gruppen sign agreement for Electric Vehicle Battery Recycling

Hydrovolt has entered into an agreement with Motor Gruppen under the umbrella of the newly established Autoretur Battery Recycling. The agreement strengthens the value chain for battery recycling and facilitates sustainable solutions across the automotive industry.

Motor Gruppen is active in the import, sales, and service of the car brands Mitsubishi, Hongqi, and Changan. Hydrovolt will contribute specialized expertise in collection, handling, and recycling of end-of-life high-energy batteries throughout the agreement period.

“We look forward to building a long-term and solid relationship with Motor Gruppen, a car importer that shares our view on efficient logistics, high safety standards, and strong recycling rates,” says CEO Ole-Christen Enger, Hydrovolt.

Through the cooperation, Hydrovolt will act as a full-service provider, including the collection of high-energy batteries, analysis of reuse potential, as well as recycling and production of critical raw materials that feed into new battery production.

The cooperation will meet current and upcoming requirements for recycling rates, traceability, and documentation, in line with the EU battery regulations expected to be implemented in Norway shortly. For Motor Gruppen, the partnership is also an important part of their ESG initiatives toward an environmentally friendly and well-functioning vehicle fleet in Norway.

“We are pleased to establish a collaboration with Hydrovolt, which is actively working to find efficient and sustainable solutions for the collection and recycling of electric vehicle batteries. Norway is a world leader in EV sales, and we now look forward to jointly developing a leading value chain for battery recycling in Norway,” says Christian R. Schmidt, CEO of MMC Norway.

The cooperation will handle increasing volumes in line with growth in the Norwegian EV market and will facilitate knowledge sharing and long-term solutions that benefit both the environment and the industry.
