Oslo, 30th of June 2023: Hydrovolt, a joint venture between Northvolt and Hydro, has appointed Ole-Christen Enger as its new CEO, effective from this fall. Enger will replace Peter Qvarfordt, who has decided to pursue opportunities outside the company.

Ole-Christen Enger joins Hydrovolt from the position as VP, Head of Finance and Controlling at Hydro’s Business Unit Recycling, a position he has held since 2020. Enger therefore brings important experience from the recycling business and is well-positioned to drive Hydrovolt’s mission of developing a sustainable battery recycling business in Europe and the US.
“I am thrilled to join Hydrovolt as the new CEO and continue to strengthen the remarkable work the Hydrovolt team has already accomplished. I am committed to furthering Hydrovolt’s mission of developing sustainable battery recycling solutions in several new markets and contributing to the overall growth and innovation of the battery industry,” says Enger.
The appointment follows the departure of Peter Qvarfordt, the outgoing CEO who has led the company through its initial start-up phase. Hydrovolt has gained valuable experience through operating Europe’s largest battery facility for recycling of EV-batteries in Fredrikstad, Norway.
“We are very excited to have Ole-Christen join the team as the new CEO. His background from recycling coupled with his leadership skills positions him as an ideal choice to guide Hydrovolt’s mission and expansion in a fast-growing and increasingly competitive market. Hydrovolt has attracted some of the best people in this industry, is backed by long-term industrial investors, and is well positioned for international growth,” says Emma Nehrenheim, chair of the Hydrovolt board.
