The Nordic region's largest battery recycling plant
Hydrovolt is a first mover within battery recycling with a leading market position in Norway, aiming to take a significant share of its home markets by 2030. We work to develop recycling services to meet the growth of end-of-life batteries.
Hydrovolt is running Norway’s first and the Nordic region's largest battery recycling plant based in Fredrikstad, Norway. The plant is designed for EV – and industrial batteries with a capacity of 12,000 tons battery packs equivalent to 25,000 EVs annually.

At our industrial plant in Fredrikstad, our employees are working within the departments of operations, logistics, maintenance and technical across our discharge and dismantling (D&D) facility and crushing and sorting (C&S) facility.
We are constantly improving and innovating our operations at the plant to ensure safety and efficient operations. Our D&D site is one of the world’s most automated production lines for discharging and dismantling of batteries. This line is built on the experience of our training and manual operations from the first phase of our site.
At our C&S site, we run a fully autonomous production line designed to produce critical raw materials at high recovery rates with minimal emissions.
With these two facilities, we are one step closer to ensuring no battery is ever wasted.
Our operations run on renewable energy and residual energy from collected batteries
The plant runs on close to 100% renewable energy from the Norwegian grid, solar panels & recovered energy from the collected EV batteries in a battery storage system.

A modern production site with semi to fully autonomous production steps enables more effective and safer recycling solutions.
